||| Types of interpretation |||

Interpretation can be classified into two types.

/ Consecutive interpretation /
The speaker is advised to stop after a couple of sentences or minutes, depending on the content of the speech. Once the speaker stops the interpreters communicate the message to the other participants in another language.

/ Simultaneous interpretation /
The interpreter speaks at the same time as the speaker, so the speaker doesn't have to stop. It demands advanced skills and a great deal of mental stamina, so if continuous interpretation is required (such as at conference or in broadcasting) simultaneous interpreters normally work in pairs, alternating every 15-20 minutes.
